Helping gardeners to improve their cultivation and strengthen sustainability at the same time: that is the goal of Royal Brinkman, a Dutch company founded in 1885 that has since developed into one of the leading suppliers, consultants and installers for the professional greenhouse industry. With some 350 employees and offices in 14 countries, Royal Brinkman supplies vegetable, flower, pot-plant and soft-fruit growers around the world with state-of-the-art technology, including climate control and water technology. And why Royal? On 1 April 1985, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands awarded the company the title “royal” to mark its 100th anniversary.

From the tomato sorting machine of 1926 to a modern water treatment system
Royal Brinkman has always relied on technological progress to make horticulture more sustainable and productive. As early as 1926, the company won first prize at the Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition in Utrecht for an electrically powered tomato sorting machine. One of its latest innovations is a water treatment system for horticulture. It not only supplies plants with nutrients to simulate growth, but also uses hydrogen peroxide – an environmentally friendly agent that breaks down into water and oxygen after use – to eliminate harmful microorganisms.
Dosing pumps with advanced magnetic drive technology: precise, low-maintenance and energy-efficient
Royal Brinkman relies on Lutz-Jesco dosing pumps, including those of the Magdos LD series, to precisely control the dosing of hydrogen peroxide and nutrients in their water treatment system. The advanced magnetic drive technology of Lutz-Jesco devices enables the reproducibility of the dosing quantity in the range of +/- 2%. Royal Brinkman selected the dosing pump on the basis of the desired dosages and the capacities of the water system. The pumps are controlled by a water pulse meter on the pump units. In practice, this can be a pH control, whereby an acid or hydrogen peroxide control solution is injected to keep the piping system clean.
