The challenge: filling vehicle central lubrication systems efficiently – without hand pumps
Struggling with hand pumps or pneumatic pumps to deliver lubricating grease for machines and vehicles: Such physically demanding tasks make contract work in agriculture unattractive, repeatedly lead to health-related absences and unnecessarily exacerbate the labour shortage.
Michael Bundschuh, agricultural service technician and machine operator at the contractor May from Steinfurt, therefore looked for an alternative to make things easier for employees when filling the central lubrication systems of his vehicles.
The solution: easy lubricating grease pumping with the LubeDrive
“For some time, we had been looking for an alternative to reduce the physical strain during lubrication while also increasing mobility,” says Michael Bundschuh. “So we were very pleased when we heard about the new Lutz LubeDrive.
The LubeDrive is a new type of filling tool from Lutz Pumpen. Its special feature is that it can be powered by a device that is available in any company – a conventional cordless screwdriver. Employees at Landmaschinen May therefore no longer have to operate hand pumps or restrict their freedom of movement with a heavy pneumatic motor, air hoses or power cables.
Barrier-free use: the LubeDrive is deliberately designed with ease of use in mind
The metal pump unit is fixed in a container with a capacity of 10 to 60 kg using a support. At the top is the pump head with the drive connection for the cordless screwdriver. The operator then connects the hose line to the central lubrication system of a tractor, combine harvester or plough.
When the cordless screwdriver is started, the eccentric screw pump tube begins to operate. The eccentrically rotating rotor turns within the stator, forming progressing cavities that transport all standard NLGI-2 lubricating greases from bottom to top, through the hose and directly into the central lubrication system. The delivery rate is 2 kg/min.
“The LubeDrive noticeably relieves the user's hands, arms and back.”
According to Michael Bundschuh, the LubeDrive has significantly simplified the process of filling central lubrication systems. “The compact design and the ability to simply connect the pump to a cordless screwdriver noticeably reduce strain on the hands, arms and back. This makes refilling much more convenient and reduces physical strain,” says Michael Bundschuh. “For us, the LubeDrive is therefore more than just a technical aid; it offers real benefits in terms of workplace ergonomics and comfort.”
Customer benefits
Physical relief for employees:
No more laborious hand pump use. No strain on the hands, arms and back. Work becomes more ergonomic and healthier over the long term.
More efficient and flexible working:
Fast filling of central lubrication systems (up to 2 kg/min) without disruptive cables or heavy pneumatic equipment. Mobile use thanks to cordless screwdriver drive.
Reliable and consistent delivery:
The eccentric screw pump tube ensures constant delivery even of viscous NLGI-2 lubricating grease.
