Safety blowoff valves

Modern chlorine gas Dosing systems in water treatment work according to the vacuum method in accordance with DIN 19606. The Vacuum regulator as the central safety component is usually located directly on the chlorine tank valve. It ensures that the operating pressure in all downstream lines is lower than the atmospheric pressure. This means that even in the event of a leak, no chlorine can escape because the vacuum only draws in air.
Malfunctions can occur in any technical system, for example due to contamination of the devices. In such malfunctions, overpressure can build up in the vacuum system. This is why DIN 19606 prescribes a Safety blowoff valve.

The Safety blowoff valve opens even at low overpressure and allows the chlorine gas to escape at a safe point. In most cases, an activated carbon cartridge is connected, which adsorbs harmless quantities. In the event of a real fault, the chlorine flows to the Gas warning device's Sensor and causes an alarm.
