Fail-safe dosing in extreme ranges: Lutz-Jesco presents PERIDOS FXM, the smart peristaltic pumps
Wertheim, 05 June 2025 – Aggressive media and harsh operating conditions regularly lead to unplanned shutdowns in the industry. With the new PERIDOS FXM peristaltic pump series, Lutz-Jesco provides a networked solution for conveying and dosing in Industry 4.0 environments. The pumps can be seamlessly integrated into condition monitoring systems and enable real-time monitoring of critical processes – for greater operating safety and lower downtime costs.
The new peristaltic pumps of the PERIDOS FXM series from Lutz-Jesco convey liquids using a simple but effective principle: rotating rollers press on a flexible hose from the outside and push the medium in the conveying direction. There are no valves or seals. The main advantage: The medium only comes into contact with the hose material. This makes the pump particularly robust and resistant to aggressive and abrasive media in water treatment, the chemical industry, the paper and pulp industry, the food and beverage industry, agriculture and agricultural engineering, as well as in mining and construction.
Low maintenance and compact
To minimize wear, various hose materials are available for chemicals, oils, greases, and acids. The hoses can be changed in just a few steps – without dismantling the pump or requiring special tools. This reduces downtime and maintenance costs. Companies also benefit from a space-saving design, in which the drive, gear, electronics, and pump head are housed in a compact housing. The pumps operate with low-maintenance, brushless motors and robust plastic rotors that are deformation-free and corrosion-resistant.
Three performance classes – flexible use
To accommodate a wide range of applications, Lutz-Jesco is offering the peristaltic pump in three performance classes. The PERIDOS FXM 1 is an entry-level version with a delivered volume of 2.8 l/h. The FXM 2 is the mid-range model with a delivered volume of 176 l/h, and the FXM 3 is the most powerful version with a delivered volume of 840 l/h. “In order to dose liquids with high precision, the delivery capacity can be adjusted over a very wide control range,” explains Dr. Markus Seitenberg, President of Lutz-Jesco North America and LATAM. The turndown ratio, i.e., the ratio between the maximum and minimum supply stream, is 5000:1. “For example, the mid-range model PERIDOS FXM 2 covers a delivery range from 0.035 to 176 l/h.”
Networked for Industry 4.0 – studies demonstrate increasing relevance
The PERIDOS FXM is designed for the requirements of Industry 4.0 applications. The pumps transmit operating data, such as the temperature and motor status, to central control systems using standard protocols, including Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP. An integrated capacitive leakage detection system (TLD) issues an early alarm if a hose is damaged. This allows maintenance staff to intervene before an unplanned shutdown occurs. The importance of such systems is increasing. According to the Siemens study “True Cost of Downtime 2024,” the costs of machine downtime in the industrial sector have increased by 319% since 2019. Dr. Markus Seitenberg notes: “Condition monitoring can significantly reduce downtime during these stressful times and prevent costs from spiraling out of control.”
